AUSTIN, Texas—Nov. 12, 2007— Black Sand Technologies, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company specializing in analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for advanced wireless applications, today announced that wireless industry veteran Kari-Pekka “KP” Wilska has joined the company's board of directors. Mr. Wilska has an extensive history within the cellular industry and was a driving force in the rise of Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK) to its position as the largest wireless supplier in the world.
Mr. Wilska joined Nokia in 1973 and served in numerous marketing and executive roles throughout Nokia before retiring in 2005 as president of Nokia subsidiary Vertu Ltd. Mr. Wilska also serves on the boards of directors of Brightpoint, Inc. (CELL), 724 Solutions, Inc., Mavenir Systems, Inc., Paragon Wireless Ltd. and PulseWave RF, Inc.; as chairman of the advisory Board of Sipera, Inc.; and on the advisory board of Navini Networks, Inc. Previously, he served on the boards of directors of Spectra Site, Inc., Zarlink, Inc. (NYSE: ZL) and Agere Systems, Inc. (NYSE: LSI) 2005.
